The opening ceremony for Waddington Gardens in 1952.In the background is Waddington Old Hall and it really is old.Parts of the building date back from the 11th century and other parts from the 13th century.The Tempest family lived here between the reign of Edward 1st to the rein of Charles 1st.The Tempest family let Henry 6th take refuge here in 1464 after his defeat after the Battle of Hexham.Henry also took refuge at Bolton Hall and Clitheroe Castle.He was eventually caught crossing the River Ribble when he was betrayed by the servants of Sir James Hargreaves whom were Yorkists.
